Everything you need to know…
Do you only look after pugs?
The Pug House is exclusively for pugs and pug crosses, allowing us to focus on the breed we know best. With over 12 years of experience owning and caring for pugs, we understand their unique personalities, quirks and care needs, creating a calm environment where every guest feels right at home.
If your pug has a small breed sibling, we'd be happy to consider welcoming them too, so they can enjoy their stay together. Simply get in touch and we can discuss your requirements.
Where are you based?
We're based in Malvern, Worcestershire, in a secure family home with an enclosed garden.
Easily accessible from Birmingham, Bristol, Gloucester etc.
Are you in the process of becoming licensed?
We've now submitted our application for our local authority home boarding licence and are currently awaiting approval.
In the meantime, we're fully committed to providing the highest standard of care. We're insured, DBS checked and qualified in Canine First Aid Level 2 (VTQ)™.
Our priority has always been, and always will be, giving every pug a happy, safe and loving home away from home.
How many dogs do you board at once?
We only welcome one family per stay, whether that's one pug or two from the same household. This allows us to provide a calm, home-from-home environment with plenty of individual attention, affection and care. Get in touch if you have any questions.
Can my pug visit before staying?
Yes! We require a meet and greet before accepting any booking. It's a chance for everyone to get to know each other and make sure The Pug House is the right fit.
So, What's It Like Here?
Nestled at the foot of the beautiful Malvern Hills, The Pug House is surrounded by peaceful countryside and plenty of wonderful walks. Our home is completely open to our guests, who are free to relax in every room, just as they would at home.
We've created a welcoming little pug paradise, with cosy beds for afternoon snoozes, cooling mats to keep everyone comfortable during the warmer months, and plenty of quiet spaces to unwind. We also have rooms that don't overlook the street, making them ideal for pugs who prefer a calmer environment or can be reactive to passing people or dogs.
Outside, our large, secure garden offers plenty of space to explore, with lawns, decking, vegetable patches, strawberry plants and a peaceful pond. It's a calm, enriching space where pugs can potter, sniff, sunbathe or simply enjoy being outdoors at their own pace.
During their stay
Where will my pug sleep, and will they be left alone?
Wherever they're happiest! Whether that's in their own bed, a crate, or curled up beside us, we'll stick as closely as possible to their usual routine.
Only for short periods if absolutely necessary. We work from home, so guest pugs enjoy plenty of company throughout the day.
What if my pug needs medication?
We're happy to administer medication as part of their normal routine. Just let us know their requirements before their stay. Drop us a message if you’re unsure.
Do you send updates?
Absolutely!
You'll receive regular photos and updates throughout your pug's stay so you can relax knowing they're having a wonderful holiday too.
Health & Safety
Are you experienced with pugs, and what happens in an emergency?
Yes. We've owned and cared for pugs for many years and understand the breed's unique needs, from breathing considerations to wrinkle care, overheating and their wonderfully quirky personalities.
If your pug becomes unwell, we'll contact you immediately and, if needed, take them to your registered vet or the nearest emergency veterinary practice.
To further our knowledge and ensure we're providing the very best care for every guest, we're both booked onto a Canine First Aid Level 2 (VTQ)™ course this August.
Do you board unvaccinated dogs?
All guest pugs must be fully vaccinated and up to date with flea and worm treatment. Drop us an message if you’re unsure.
What if my pug doesn't get on with your pugs?
We'll discuss your dog's temperament during the meet and greet. The safety and wellbeing of every guest always comes first.
